The UN’s 17 Sustainable development goals
See which goals Green Box works with
The UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals have created a common language for sustainable development, becoming an integrated tool for many companies. This also applies to Green Box.
It is basically about taking responsibility. We cannot make a difference in relation to all the SDGs, but we can make a difference by focusing on selected goals that are based on our expertise and core business.
At Green Box, we therefore focus on SDGs 6, 9 and 12. On this page, you can learn more about what it entails.
#6 Clean water and sanitation
Water saving must be easy
Water scarcity is a growing problem globally. It is important that we take responsibility and work consciously and determinedly to protect the resources of the Earth.
As a producer of prefabricated bathrooms, it is natural for Green Box to participate in the work to achieve the goal of clean water and sanitation. We want to protect our natural water resources and ensure clean drinking water for future generations. We have therefore developed an innovative water-saving system for the construction industry: Green Flow.
Green Flow is a patented, water-saving system that, through reuse of shower water for toilet flushing, can reduce a home’s water consumption by up to 27% annually (depending on consumption pattern).
It should be easy for you as a developer, architect, engineer or contractor to succeed in the green transition in construction. Green Flow has therefore been developed as an easy add-on for our prefabricated bathrooms. This applies both in the actual performance of the construction project and in the subsequent daily use and maintenance.
In this way, Green Flow can help ease the pressure on our drinking water resources and also provide a clear financial benefit for the individual end user.
#9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Danish production as a strategic choice
Sustainable development requires that we all think out of the box when it comes to innovative and environmentally-friendly technologies in industrial processes.
The strategic choice to keep a Danish production has become a fundamental part of this development for Green Box. With Danish production of our prefabricated bathrooms, we achieve:
- Access to the labour and the conditions that enable us to manufacture prefabricated bathrooms of the highest quality in a healthy working environment and under responsible conditions.
- Environmental considerations through efficient waste management systems, which are extensively developed in Denmark. This is attractive for a company with a sustainable agenda.
- We indirectly achieve lower climate impact from our production as we use Danish energy, which primarily comes from renewable energy sources.
- Shorter distance to customers and to construction sites in our primary markets than if production was located abroad. A truck with our light bathrooms only emits 0.883 kg CO2 per kilometer, which means that the carbon footprint of transport to the construction site is very low.
In 2020, Green Box implemented Scope 1 and Scope 2 screening of the company’s carbon footprint. Based on this, we are now working determinedly to reduce our indirect carbon footprint on an ongoing basis.
#12 – Responsible consumption and production
Efficient procurement means less waste
Many developers and contractors today choose prefabricated bathrooms over bathrooms produced on site to reduce waste of materials at construction sites.
At Green Box, the production of our prefabricated bathrooms is so standardised that we know the exact quantities of all materials that go into the manufacturing process. This enables us to streamline our procurement and thereby achieve less waste of materials in our production.
Green Box works continuously to minimise waste and wastage. For example, all plasterboards are cut to the right dimensions for the individual bathroom from the supplier, and residual plasterboard is fed directly into a crusher where they are made into new plasterboards. In addition, all our waste is sorted.
Environmentally-friendly materials
We want to protect the environment, our employees and future users of our bathrooms from toxic chemicals and gases. We also want to contribute to more sustainable construction with focus on the environment, climate and residents.
In our production of Green Box bathrooms, we therefore only use materials approved for inclusion in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled construction. We can also provide EPDs for all materials used in the production of our bathrooms. Green Box bathrooms can also be produced in accordance with other environmental and building certifications. DGNB and BREEAM-certified hotel projects are among our references.
Digitalisation ensures paperless production
At Green Box, we do everything digitally, and we therefore have a paperless production today.
Instead of drawings on paper, we use screens several places in our production. Quality control is easily done via the employees’ phones, which are used to scan the QR code of the individual bathroom. In this way, we have reduced our paper consumption by at least 30,000 sheets of paper per year.
Through the digitalisation of our processes, we also achieve greater security in our quality control, as no control forms or other documentation is lost. Via our digital quality assurance system, our customers also have direct access to all documentation of each individual bathroom.
