Our responsibility

Green Box and sustainable development

Taking responsibility for the world around us

We all have a responsibility to take care of the world around us. This applies to individuals as well as businesses. We are very conscious of this at Green Box. This means that we run our business with focus on responsibility towards the environment, our employees, society and our suppliers.

We want to contribute to a more sustainable construction industry with solutions that offer both financial and environmental benefits. With an innovative and environmentally-oriented focus, we contribute to setting new standards. We believe that prefabrication is an important part of an optimised and sustainable construction process and an important step towards more environmentally-friendly construction.

On this page, you can read more about the initiatives and strategies we work with at Green Box to shoulder our responsibility and contribute to a sustainable development.

Bathrooms with a low carbon footprint

Focus on minimal environmental impact

Consideration for the environment is an integral part of the way we work at Green Box. This is reflected in our prefabricated bathrooms, which are manufactured with focus on minimal environmental impact.

Prefabricated bathrooms from Green Box have been developed in an innovative lightweight design with high strength and stability. While the walls are built in hot-dip galvanised steel cassettes, the light bathrooms only contain concrete in the floors. This results in a prefabricated bathroom with a low carbon footprint, which can also help reduce the building’s overall carbon footprint.

Green Box prefabricated bathrooms emit approx. 3 kg CO2/m2/year.

This is good for both the economy and the environmental footprint of any building project.

Materials approved for certified construction

We want to protect the environment, our employees and future users of our bathrooms from toxic chemicals and gases. We also want to contribute to more sustainable construction with focus on the environment, climate and residents.

In our production of Green Box bathrooms, we only use materials approved for inclusion in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled construction. Materials approved for Nordic Swan Ecolabelled construction meet strict requirements for environmentally harmful and health hazardous substances. This applies to everything from paint and joint filler to insulation and flooring.

Green Box bathrooms can be produced to buildings that are certified according to recognized environmental and building certifications. DGNB and BREEAM-certified hotel projects are among our references.

We can also provide EPDs for all materials used in the production of our bathrooms.

How Green Box contributes to your DGNB certification

New requirements for DGNB certification of renovation and new construction are on the way. We have prepared a manual which gives you an overview of how Green Box can contribute to your DGNB certification now and in the future.

Low environmental footprint with Green Box

At Green Box, we continuously work to optimise our products and production processes to ensure that our bathrooms have minimum environmental impact.

Therefore, we have a constant focus on minimising waste of materials as well as ensuring the best possible waste management and reuse when waste of materials occurs.

At Green Box, the production of our prefabricated bathrooms is so standardised that we know the exact quantities of all materials that go into the manufacturing process. This enables us to streamline our procurement and thereby achieve minimal waste of materials in our production.

We generally build our bathrooms in materials that have as little impact on the environment as possible. This means that we can deliver prefabricated bathrooms with low environmental impact. Our bathrooms only emit between 3-4 kg CO2/m2/year (LCIA) depending on the size of the bathroom.

“We’re at the forefront, working to become the producer that delivers bathrooms with the least possible environmental impact.”

Sustainable development

Green Box and the UN sustainable development goals

Today, the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals constitute an integrated tool for many businesses in their work for a more sustainable development. This also applies to Green Box.

It is basically about taking responsibility.

We cannot make a difference in relation to all SDGs, but we can make a difference by focusing on selected goals that are based on our expertise and core business.

In our work for a better sustainable development, at Green Box we therefore focus on SDGs 6, 9 and 12.

ESG reporting

In 2024, Green Box A/S is working actively to prepare its first ESG report. As part of A/S Motortramp, we must meet the ESRS standards. Through our many years of actively working to reduce carbon emissions as much as possible in our production as well as our many initiatives for both employees and the local area, we are well equipped for the work with ESG reporting.

This means that all our customers, partners and other stakeholders will also have access to our ESG report by the end of 2024. You will be able to follow our work here on an ongoing basis.

Bæredygtig Herning

We support and shoulder the tast together

In sustainable development, we are strongest by pulling together. In this process, it is also important to ensure that everyone has access to relevant information and knowledge.

Green Box supports sustainable development as a member of Bæredygtig Herning, a Danish network that supports business activities and development in sustainability via focus on knowledge sharing.

The Aulum Mile

Going the extra mile for young people in the labour market

Green Box is part of the Aulum Mile business community.

The Aulum Mile has been created to go the extra mile for young people who, for various reasons, find it difficult to gain a foothold in working life, and to integrate them in the labour market with focus on well-being, security and proper support.

In the business community, we can shoulder a social responsibility by ensuring that young people get the best experience of working life, establish a network of partners to use as sounding boards and, not least, that they have the opportunity to choose between different organisations, depending on their abilities and interests.
